Republican Senators on he Homeland Security Committee an amendment to a human traffacking bill to block the Biden Administration’s proposal to give $450,000 million in “compensation” to illegal aliens whose arrest involved family separation. Sen. James Lankford (R-OK), who sponsored the amendment, said that such payments would encourage illegal immigration. He noted that “There is no question that this will be the news in Central America — that if you go now, you’re going to get $450,000 if you cross.”
The amendment failed in a 7-7 vote. It needed a majority to pass. Supporters of the amendment say they will try to attach it to the upcoming defense policy bill.
