Sanctuary NYC Wants Tax-Paid help

Mayors of some sanctuary cities, i.e., cities that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration law enforcement, complain about the financial burden that illegal immigration is causing them.

One of these mayors is Eric Adams of New York City. He recently exclaimed that there is “no more room at the inn” and added that “no city should have to make a decision if they’re going to provide for their citizens . . . or if they’re going to deal with an onslaught of migrants and asylum seekers.”

Is this situation going to make Adams rethink New York’s sanctuary policy? Or maybe ask the Biden Administration to start controlling the border? Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen. Instead, Adams wants an infusion of funds, presumably from the federal government, to help the city accommodate the swelling ranks of migrants.

A much better allocation of taxpayers’ money would be strengthening our border so that the problem would not happen in the first place.
