Poll: Voters Rate Presidents on Immigration

The New York Times and Siena college recently conducted a poll asking registered voters their views on the handling of immigration by the Trump and Biden Administrations.

Fifty percent of the respondents said that they approved of what former President Trump did on immigration, with 36 “strongly” approving and 14 percent “somewhat” approving. Forty-seven percent disapproved, 35 percent “strongly” and 12 percent “somewhat.”

The poll found that 32 percent of the respondents approved of what President Biden has done on immigration. Nine percent “strongly” endorsed this view, and 23 affirmed it “somewhat.” Sixty-four percent disapproved, with 49 percent saying “strongly” and 15 percent “somewhat.”

Republicans and Democrats split sharply, with the former supporting Trump’s record, and the latter supporting Biden’s. Independents tended to back Trump’s performance.
