Taxpayers in New York State initially faced a bill of $3 million to resettle 2,000 Afghans admitted to the state as a result of the Biden Administration’s refugee policy. Recently, Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) announced that another $2 million would be necessary for the resettlement, thus making a total of $5 million. Refugee contractors who make money from resettlement praised the allocation.
