Mystery Bus of Migrants Headed to Philadelphia

The mayor of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jim Kenney, said yesterday that a bus carrying 52 “asylum seekers” was en route to the city from Texas. He assured the press that, when the migrants arrive, “we’ll welcome them with open arms.”

The question is, who’s sending them? The Democrat-led city of El Paso had been sending migrants north, primarily to New York City, but they’ve either run out of money or received orders from the White House to cease or probably both. Texas Governor Abbott has continued his export of migrants, but so far only to Washington, DC, New York City, and Chicago. His office says none have been sent to Philadelphia. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis made headlines in September by flying a few dozen migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard, but that seems to have been a one-off and no reason to suspect him currently. It is speculated that the Philly-bound bus may have been chartered by a migrant-friendly charitable organization, but nobody yet knows.

In any case, Philadelphia’s progressive city administration is putting on a City-of-Brotherly-Love-style front as it awaits their new residents, who will be formally welcomed and provided shelter space, health screening, food, water, and no doubt the inevitable smart phones and access to video games.

That will all probably be out the goodness of the city fathers’ hearts, but it could be that they’ve also heard that NYC’s Mayor Adams is banking on federal reimbursement for the billion dollars he claims he’ll spend on his own new arrivals.
