Millions of Afghanis Headed to Europe

On August 11, we asked the question, “3 Million Afghanis Europe Bound?

Today, after the calamitous events of the past week, the answer seems to be, Yes, and potentially many more.

The Gatestone Institute, an international policy think tank based in New York City, is quoting German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer who has estimated that up to five million people will now try to leave Afghanistan for Europe. Such a number, according to Seehofter, would dwarf even the migration crisis of 2015, when millions of refugees from the Middle East, Africa, and elsewhere flooded into the continent.

Gatestone estimates that maybe 570,000 Afghans — almost exclusively young men — have requested asylum in the European Union since 2015, and Afghanistan has been the second biggest source of asylum applicants, second only to war-torn Syria.

Those young Afghanis have since been responsible for hundreds, even thousands, of sexual assaults on European women. Germany, for example, where Chancellor Angela Merkel had notoriously opened the door to a million refugees, during the 2015/16 New Year holiday saw mass sexual assaults on German women by refugees and migrants in cities such as Cologne, Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Stuttgart. Paul Ziemiak, general secretary of Merkel’s own party, is now saying: “It is clear to us that 2015 must not be repeated. We will not be able to solve the Afghanistan issue by migration to Germany.”

Yet one of the contenders to replace Merkel, Greens party candidate Annalena Baerbock, has called for Germany to take in well over 50,000 Afghans. “We have to come to terms with this,” she told a TV interviewer.

Will the suicidal madness that has already pushed the European continent to the brink of extinction continue? Author Douglas Murray is today asking on UnHerd: “Will Europe survive another migrant crisis?” The people and governments of that beleaguered continent are unprepared for another influx, he says. The odds are not good.
