On Christmas Day, as temperatures plunged to the low 20s, large numbers of illegal migrants camped on El Paso’s sidewalks as usual. Those who were got-aways who had wandered into town without being bothered with by the Border Patrol were not officially eligible for federal shelters. Though potentially eligible to go to locally maintained shelters, they joined others who preferred to remain on the streets. The previous week El Paso had seen 4,000 illegals processed and then released by the CBP. The week before the number released was more than 10,000.
Although El Paso is a Democrat-run city that has up to now adhered to Washington’s commands, many city leaders are beginning to call for Joe Biden to come and see for himself the damage his open-border policies are causing. Still, what with having to guard Ukraine’s borders from Russia and all, our demento-in-chief continues to insist he has more important things on his mind, so to speak.
