Migrant Apprehensions Spiking Again

With the ending of Title 42 enforcement on the southern border in May, the Biden administration loudly proclaimed a drop in apprehensions of illegal migrants.

It now appears the celebrations were premature.

According to unnamed CBP officials, last week apprehension numbers peaked at nearly 6,000 per day. At the Eagle Pass facility, long a hot spot for illegal border jumpers, more than 2,000 migrants are currently being held. The source told Breitbart News that daily migrant detention numbers exceeded 17,000 in recent weeks.

Also, Rio Grande Valley Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gloria Chavez reported more than 1,000 migrants had been nabbed near La Grulla, Texas, in a single 24-hour period. During the first three days of August, agents apprehended nearly 4,400 migrants.

Meanwhile, next door in Arizona, the Tucson Sector reported apprehending several large migrant groups near Lukeville the previous weekend. The largest single group consisted of 533 migrants from 17 different countries. During the first three days of August, Tucson Sector agents apprehended 5,061 migrants.

CBP officials said the overall number of apprehensions in July were more than 132,000, up from 99,545 in June, a 33% increase.

Don’t be fooled. Biden can’t legalize them fast enough to declare the crisis over. Not by a long shot.
