Many Hispanics Support Controls

A recent Azios/Ipsos poll found that while a majority of Hispanics are pro-immigration, a substantial and growing minority are not. The poll asked whether it’s more important to “help immigrants escape poverty and violence in their home countries and find success here,” or whether it is more important “to secure America’s borders and help American citizens.”

Fifty-one percent of the respondents agreed with the first statement, and 43 percent agreed with the second one. Many working-class Hispanics view mass immigration as a threat to their jobs and wages.
