Immigrant Population Surges

Following a lull during the COVID pandemic, the immigration population began to surge upward again. William Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., observed: “The gain in 2022 was as big as the previous four years put together. The foreign-born population zoomed up.”

That population has reached a record high of more than 46 million, almost 14 percent of the total U.S. population. That’s one person in the U.S. out of seven. Despite these figures, immigration advocates claim we don’t have enough immigrants.
