House GOP leaders have agreed on a strong bill to block Obama’s amnesty plan. The bill would prevent Obama from implementing his plan to defer deportations and grant work permits to up to 5 million illegals. It would also limit the administration’s 2011 “Morton memos” that effectively limit deportations to felons and terrorists, restore the “Secure Communities” program, and force state and local police to honor ICE detainer requests.
The GOP plan is to pass the bill, then attach it as an amendment to the Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill and send it to the Senate.
