Hating Truth Is a ‘Cynical Ploy’

The Quote Below—More Misinformation from the Media

“Ten people were murdered  in a Buffalo supermarket on Saturday by an alleged white supremacist who believed in the “great replacement theory,” an absurd racist ideology that claims there is a plot to replace white Americans with people of color.

“It is yet another massacre fueled by a formerly fringe belief that has found a mainstream foothold thanks to irresponsible pundits and political opportunists on the right.

“We must all do our part to fight back against these abhorrent views, in our communities and in our parties. Washington Republicans — of a moderate and independent bent — have an opportunity to lead the way against this vile ideology that has steadily crept its way into their party.

“Roughly 1 in 3 Americans believe there are efforts to replace native-born citizens with immigrants for electoral gains and that more immigration is leading to native-born Americans losing economic, political and cultural influence, according to polling from The Associated Press and the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

“Fear of the stranger, of the unknown, of losing power, are sadly human thoughts — ones that no political party has a lock on — but conservatives are being fed a steady diet of misinformation and hate by many who would exploit that fear for political gain.

“Media figures such as Ann Coulter, and Fox News’ Tucker Carlson . . . have helped legitimize this paranoid delusion, while some GOP leaders have made the bet that stoking racial animosity will keep them in power. . . .

“Theirs is a cynical ploy with a rising body count. . . . .” — After Buffalo, We All Must Resist the Mainstreaming of Hate, The Seattle Times, Editorials, 5/16/22 [Link]

Fact Check of Above Quotes: This entire article is “cynical ploy” to use a tragedy for political purposes. Specifically, it claims that the Great Replacement theory is “hate” and unfit for political discussion because a bad person expressed it. This is as ridiculous as saying that we should not talk about the ill effects of smoking cigarettes because Hitler thought smoking was bad. An idea should be judged on its own merits, not by the character of some people who may espouse it. In some cases, disreputable people may express valid ideas in order to make themselves appear reputable.

Is the Great Replacement a valid concept? Media elites try to silence discussion by dismissing it with such terms as “absurd,” and “racist.” But it seems they are fighting a losing battle because—in spite of their most fervent efforts—about one-third of Americans (as the article acknowledges) believe it is true. If the media were even close to evenhanded on the issue, the percentage no doubt would be much higher.

Are there good reasons to believe that the Great Replacement is going on? Specifically, is there a conscious effort on the part of left-wing Democrats to shift the electorate for their benefit through immigration? Indeed there is, and it’s been going on for quite some time. In 2010, Middle American News provided a summary of examples, including the statement of prominent Democratic strategist Robert Creamer. He explicitly endorsed liberal immigration policies as a means for his party to get a permanent lock of U.S. politics. Just recently the Daily Caller provided other examples.

The claim that Ann Coulter and Tucker Carlson are “deluded” and “paranoid” becomes farcical when one considers what they have actually revealed about the Great Replacement. It consists of quotes from prominent leftists who endorse this strategy. To learn what Coulter and Carlson said click [here] and [here]. If some Americans believe that the Replacement is about them “losing power,” it is not an “irrational fear” but an observable fact.

Is it “absurd” and “racist” to suggest some Great Replacement strategists specifically want to diminish the white population of the U.S.? Well, maybe it isn’t. President Joe Biden affirmed that immigration is reducing whites to “an absolute minority.” This, he declared enthusiastically, is “not a bad thing” and is a “source of our strength.” Biden’s immigration policies are quite consistent with the views he expressed. The Great Replacement is a true view. Those who deny it are simply dishonest. They claim that truth is “hate” because they hate truth.
