Ingraham: Immigration Erases America

Fox News Host Laura Ingraham stated that "In some parts of the country it does seem that the America we know and love doesn't exist anymore. Massive demographic changes have been foisted upon the American people. And they're changes that none of us ever voted for and most of us don't like. Now much of this is related to both illegal and, in some cases, legal immigration.  .  .  ."

Trump Plans ‘Public Charge’ Enforcement

Under the law prospective immigrants who are likely to become "public charges" (i.e.,  dependent on public assistance) can be denied admission, and those who are admitted and later become public charges can be deported. It is a law, however, which is rarely enforced. The Trump Administration is making plans to change this situation.  A spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security stated: "The administration is committed to enforcing existing immigration law, which is clearly intended to protect the American taxpayer by ensuring that foreign nationals seeking to enter or remain in the U.S are self-sufficient. Any proposed changes would ensure that the government takes the responsibility of being good stewards of taxpayer funds seriously and adjudicates immigration benefit requests in accordance with the law."

Most Refugees Not in Danger

The Center for Immigration Studies cites data from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) showing that "For most refugees, resettlement is not a matter of life an death." Of the refugees it submitted for resettlement in 2017, only 1.1 percent were in "emergency" status and only 6.4 percent were in "urgent" status. The remaining 92.5 were classified as "normal" status, which the UNHCR defines as "[circumstances] where there are no immediate medical, social, or security concerns which would merit expedited processing."

Arrested Aliens Received DACA

A common narrative of the media is that the recipients of the DACA amnesty are all young people who deserve permanent residence in America and a path to citizenship. Nevertheless, many critics of the program noted that the screening procedures of the program were lax. Now a study by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has found that eight percent of DACA recipients had arrest records for crimes at the time of their approval, and that 13 percent were arrested foe additional crimes after their approval.

Trump Considers New Refugee Cut

The Trump Administration is considering another cut in refugee admissions. Last year the administration reduced admissions to 45,000 a year. The proposal under consideration would reduce the annual total to 25,000.

Cato Calls for Open Borders

A writer for the libertarian Cato Institute wrote an article for USA Today calling for open borders. Cato is funded in part by the billionaire Koch brothers. President Trump stated that "The globalist Koch brothers, who have become a total joke in real Republican circles, are against Strong Borders and Powerful Trade. I never sought their support because I don't need their money or bad ideas."

Trump Threatens Shut-Down

President Trump threatened a shut-down of the federal government in September if Democrat congressmen continue to obstruct his proposals for immigration reform. He stated on Twitter that "I would be willing to 'shut down' the government if the Democrats do not give us the votes for Border Security, which includes the Wall! Must get rid of Lottery, Catch & Release etc. and finally go to a system based on MERIT!" ( The latter refers to an end to chain migration which makes family connections, rather than merit, the basis for admitting most legal immigrants.)

DOJ: Use ‘Illegal Alien’

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has informed U.S. attorney offices in an agency-wide e-mail that they should to refer to foreigners illegally residing in the United States as illegal aliens, instead of "undocumented" persons. The term "undocumented" has been popularized by illegal alien advocates as a means to suggest that people who violate our immigration laws are not really lawbreakers, but individuals who lack documents. Of course the reason they lack proper documents is because they are here illegally.  The DOJ e-mail noted that  "The word 'undocumented' is not based in U.S. code and should not be used to describe someone's illegal presence in the country."

Senator: Illegal Aliens Kids ‘Our Own’

California Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) declared that Americans must regard illegal alien children "as their own." The following is her full statement: "This is about saying we are a community of people and that the children of any one of us is [sic] the children of all of us. These are our children. That's who we are.  .  .  . We should each think of them as being our own and we should treat them that way."

Household English Declining

As the consequence of unrelenting mass immigration, forty-four million U.S. residents, one of every seven, is foreign-born. Many do not speak English well, as shown by the finding of the Migration Policy Institute that 22 percent of the U.S. population does not speak English at home. The states with the highest percentage of non-English speaking households were Nevada (31 percent) and Florida (29 percent).
