As reported here on April 13, the national news media, which once was obsessively protective of Joe Biden, is beginning to turn. In that case, the leftist outlet in question was the venerable New Republic. Today, it’s the uber-venerable New York Times.
We have just learned that the Times has learned of a “shocking” scandal involving the Biden administration and the hundreds of thousands of migrant children who have illegally crossed the southern border in drove after drove throughout his term of office. The Times expresses surprise to learn that many of those “children”–they actually tend to be 16- to 17-year old males for the most part–were sent to work in harsh conditions by their sponsors, who were supposed to take care of them. The report claims that the Biden administration “ignored” the warnings and “dodged” the blame for this situation.
It’s hard to believe that this could have come as a surprise to the NYT. We reported here in February of last year of minors being shanghaied into dangerous and filthy jobs–often with the knowledge and participation of their own parents. There’s nothing we can do about it if those parents want to sell their children into bondage at a chicken plant, but it shouldn’t be an American chicken plant and our government shouldn’t be a party to the whole thing. Which it is. Biden-style open borders has been the biggest boon the human traffickers have ever had.
The desertion of Biden by the mainstream media is by no means unwelcome; there was never a president so richly deserving of desertion. The problem, of course, is that they’re deserting him for being increasingly ineffective–not to say incoherent–at pushing forward their extremist agenda, not because they’ve gone sane or anything. In this and every other case, both Biden and his new-found media foes, are equally repugnant.
