Yesterday, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) met with his opposite number Joe Biden, during which nothing got done, because the current massive influx of illegals from AMLO’s country to the U.S. is exactly what both want.
During the televised portion of the meeting, AMLO, who has become quite comfortable telling Americans what to do, spoke at some length, giving us some more unsolicited advice.
First, we must provide amnesty and citizenship to illegal migrants:
It is indispensable for us to regularize and give certainty to migrants that have for years lived and worked in a very honest manner, and who are also contributing to the development of this great nation.
And to Biden, ignore conservative opposition:
I know that your adversaries — the conservatives — are going to be screaming all over the place, even to Heaven. They’re going to be yelling at Heaven. In the face of this crisis, the way out is not through conservatism. The way out is through transformation. We have to be bold in our actions. Transform, not maintain the status quo.
Meanwhile, Biden, having transformed unmistakably into a dottering demento, fidgeted through López Obrador’s remarks, not because he disagreed–he didn’t–but because he was focussing on a Mexican camerawoman. At one point he interrupted AMLO with this out-of-the-blue observation: “Let me say one thing. I can’t get over how that lovely lady is holding that camera steady all this time. It’s amazing!”
At which point AMLO, who didn’t get the hint–if that was a hint–indulgently agreed with his elderly host before resuming his lecture.
(By the way, in case you’re wondering, Mexico is the biggest recipient of U.S. foreign aid in North America, receiving an average of $330,553,180 from the U.S. every year. All of which apparently entitles us to sit back while our senile president ogles young women in open-mouthed wonder and that recipient country’s leader lectures us about treating his people with the proper respect.)
