America Invaded: February’s Totals

The figures are in for February and, yet again, they indicate a new record of alien border crossings. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency announced Tuesday that last month agents had 164,973 encounters with migrants illegally crossing our southern border from Mexico. (Since migrants who are sent back to Mexico often try again in the same month, the total number of encounters exceeds that of the total number of individual border crossers, which was 116,678. Eventually, those persistent enough know they will be admitted.) That number exceeds by seven percent the number in January and by nearly 40 percent the number recorded during the same period last year (97,643). The February 2021 total was itself the largest total in over two decades.

The CBP states on its website that a little over half of the total encountered (91,513) were expelled to Mexico under Title 42. The remainder (73,460) were “processed under Title 8,” which means admitted.

An entire category of migrant–Unaccompanied Children, or UACs–is legally exempt from Title 42 expulsion. The number of UACs shot up by 37 percent from the previous month: 12,011 in February, compared with 8,760 in January. As noted here on March 9, parents in Mexico and Central America have caught on to the fact that their minor children will not be expelled and are shipping them north in record numbers to work illegally in the United States.

The invasion of America continues, but all we hear from left and right is Ukraine.
