Alien No-Shows Increase

The Biden Administration releases illegal aliens into our country on the condition that they will show up for hearings to determine whether they have a case for remaining in the U.S., typically as asylees. Increasingly, however, they don’t bother to appear.

Statistics released by the DOJ reveal that there were 159,379 of these no-shows in fiscal 2023, the highest number ever recorded. Those who don’t appear are supposed to be deported, but with the restrictions the administration has imposed on ICE to carry out interior enforcement, most of them probably will be able to stay.

Andrew Arthur at the Center for Immigration Studies expressed what is at stake as this situation unfolds: “The biggest issue — and the one that threatens the integrity of the entire process — is that unless ICE actually deports aliens under final orders of removal, the entire system collapses and none of the immigration laws have any meaning anymore.”
