Abbott Bus Service Expands: Next Stop, Chicago

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has made good on his promise to add more northern cities to his outbound bus service for illegal migrants.

Last night, around 7:30, two buses carrying a total of 80 to 100 migrants from Texas arrived at Chicago’s Union Station. Many onboard identified themselves as Venezuelans. Chicago thus joined New York and Washington, DC, as sanctuary cities given the chance by Abbott to host new illegals. The governor said he looks forward to seeing Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot welcome the migrants:

President Biden’s inaction at our southern border continues putting the lives of Texans—and Americans—at risk and is overwhelming our communities. To continue providing much-needed relief to our small, overrun border towns, Chicago will join fellow sanctuary cities Washington, D.C. and New York City as an additional drop-off location. Mayor Lightfoot loves to tout the responsibility of her city to welcome all regardless of legal status, and I look forward to seeing this responsibility in action as these migrants receive resources from a sanctuary city with the capacity to serve them.

The mayor’s office, for its part, responded with a statement condemning Abbott’s action and charging that he is “without any shame or humanity.”

There are lots of sanctuary cities out there, just as eager (or not) as Chicago, NYC, and Washington to receive lots of busloads of illegals. Who’s next? We’ll wait and see.
