Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is allowing migrants to pass through his country to Europe. This action reverses his previous policy of containing migrants in Turkey. The Turkish leader warned that Europe could expect “millions” of new arrivals. Following his announcement thousands of migrants tried to force their way into Greece from Turkey.
Erdogan said that he took his action because European countries were not providing his country help to sustain the migrants, most of them from Syria, who settled in Turkey and “safe zones” in Syria.
