Texas Massacre Suspect Arrested

The suspect in the killing of five illegals in Texas, Francisco Oropesa, was arrested last night after a four-day manhunt. Oropesa, 38, was found hiding “under a pile of laundry” in the home of relatives near the town of Cut and Shoot, Texas, about ten miles from the site of the murders. He was taken without incident and transferred to the San Jacinto jail, where he is being held on $5 million bond.

Authorities had responded to a tip (there was an $80K reward), but declined to elaborate on the source. Although persons in the home were being questioned, no other arrests have been reported.

The New York Times article reporting the capture concludes with: “The killings had shocked the community . . . and the county was now, after several days, finally able to rest easy.” [Emphasis added.] Yet, after reading Todd Bensman’s account of the violent, illegal colonia in which the murders occurred, one might wonder just how true that is.
