Texas Gov. Greg Abbott recently announced creation of the position of Border Czar in his state. Abbott said that its purpose will be to counter “President Biden’s open border policies.”
Filling the new position is Michael Banks, a retired US Border Patrol agent. He stated that “For me, the #1 priority is to make the State of Texas the least desirable place for illegal immigration to cross.” Among his specific tasks, Banks will assign Texas law enforcement to assist the Border Patrol and coordinate efforts to construct barriers along the Texas-Mexico border.
