Surge in the Snow: Northern Border Apprehensions Up 743%

Our land border with Mexico and Florida’s Atlantic coastline are not the only parts of America vulnerable to migrant invasion in the Age of Biden. The historically quiet Swanton Sector of the border with Canada, which includes sections of both Vermont and New York, is seeing record apprehensions of illegal border crossers even in the winter.

Swanton Border Patrol officials are reporting that, in just the three months of October through December alone, apprehensions were up a staggering 743 percent: from 136 in the previous year to 1,146 most recently. This three-month total exceeds the total for the entirety of FY 2022.

According to Breitbart News, officials began noticing an uptick in apprehensions in May of 2022, which has increased month by month thereafter. The nationalities of those apprehended have not been released, but reports from those apprehended in October reveal they came from 19 different countries. In addition, in December a Mexican national living in New York was charged with attempting to smuggle a group of his countrymen into Vermont.

The increase, even in so inhospitable area as Swanton, which features a diverse landscape of mountains to lowland swamps and is essentially frozen throughout the winter months, is indicative of the total breakdown in border security that we chronicle here daily.
