Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), one of the authors of the Senate-passed amnesty/immigration increase bill, in a call-in immigration event co-sponsored by the New York Daily News, said: “I want to let you in on a little secret. We are going to pass that bill and sign it into law this year.” He predicted, “…I believe, hopefully June or July, we will have an immigration bill – it may not be exactly the Senate bill – on the floor of the House. They will pass it. We will come to an agreement. They will put that bill on the President’s desk for President Obama to sign into law.”
Despite the unpopularity of amnesty and increasing immigration with rank and file GOP House members and GOP voters, most of the House GOP leaders favor passing a bill to satisfy the Chamber of Commerce and other business interests (donors).
