Schism Growing in Admin over Title 42?

Last month, we reported on what were basically rumors that an east/west divide has developed in the Biden administration between, on the east coast, more traditional Dems as moderate as any Democrats are allowed to be nowadays, and, out west, a strange hybrid of wacko left-coast types and the highest of high-tech industrialists. According to the story, the eastern group is led by Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, while VP Harris and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas lead the west.

The issue at hand in that regard had to do with legal immigration, in particular the question of whether the brave new world factories bought by the Facilitating American-Built Semiconductors Act will be “built by Americans” (the position of the east) or just “built in America by someone else” (the west’s position, naturally).

This week, it happens that Mayorkas is being mentioned in connection with (another?) schism among the Democrats regarding immigration, this time of the illegal kind. The Axios website, which apparently serves as a kind of sounding board for the administration, posted the following article yesterday: “Scoop: DHS chief concerned about lifting Title 42.”

(Aside: The attentive reader might recall that it was just yesterday, in fact, that here on these pages we asked in a posting “Is Title 42 Going Away or Not? [And Should It?]” That item referred to the growing number of Democrats beginning to oppose eliminating Title 42 next month. It also remarked about a somewhat contrarian but thought-provoking suggestion that immigration restrictionists should abandon their support of Title 42, that by supporting that policy they simply help Joe Biden out of an even bigger jam than the one he’s already in.)

Getting back to the Axios piece, according to them, the DHS head has privately voiced some serious doubts about lifting the Title 42 policy. This in turn has inspired observers such as Rep. French Hill (R-AR) to react favorably to Mayorkas’s misgivings.

Today’s Breitbart says of Rep. Hill:

Hill said Mayorkas and congressional Democrats recognize that lifting Title 42 was a “completely chaotic policy.” He urged Mayorkas to “resign in disgust” over the White House’s “meddling” in his ability to secure the border.

Note to Rep. Hill: Alejandro Mayorkas is not about to “resign in disgust” or in anything else and he certainly doesn’t want to “secure the border.” What he wants is to keep the political momentum going in the favor of the far left faction he represents and not to mess things up with an inconvenient election. One factor that could mess things up bigly is to have an ongoing swarm of aliens pouring across in the border in numbers so large that there aren’t enough buses in America to spirit them away before somebody notices. Make no mistake, among Mayorkas’s reasons for opposing the abolition of Title 42 is NOT a concern for his adopted country. His actions tell us he loathes that country and will not stop until it’s been totally remade.

As Neil Munro says today on Breitbart:

Mayorkas is a Cuban-born, elite-backed, pro-migration zealot who clearly wants to remove the [Title 42] barrier, even as he also competes and cooperates with other factions in the White House.

Many have been wondering, considering the advanced mental decrepitude of Joe Biden, who is actually running the show in Washington. There are various contenders, from Harris to Chief of Staff Ron Klain, to former President Obama. Could Alejandro Mayorkas also be a candidate for Ringmaster of this circus?
