Record Number of Aliens Expected

Border Patrol chief Raul Ortiz warns that his agency expects a record number of illegal border crossers this spring, with as many as 7,000 to 8,000 being apprehended each day. Ortiz noted that detention facilities for illegals are already overcrowded.

A big reason for the anticipated surge across the border is the likelihood that the Biden Administration’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will end Title 42, a provision which allowed expedited removal of illegal aliens because of the Covid pandemic.

A dozen Republican senators sent a letter to DHS asking the agency to rethink its plan. The letter stated that “This is a grave concern that threatens to overwhelm our already strained immigration system and will only exacerbate a disastrous situation at our southern border.”
