Parade of Illegals Continues across the Border

U.S. Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) visited Yuma, Arizona, on our southern border over the weekend and posted to Twitter what he saw.

What he saw was a steady stream of illegal migrants already on the American side, headed to buses for processing and eventual distribution throughout the United States. Calling it the “tip of the iceberg” and noting that the parade was seemingly endless, Johnson did not venture a guess at the total. He did say the migrants were responding to Joe Biden’s “open border, catch and release policy,” and he questioned whether adequate Covid testing was being performed.

While DHS officials insist that those migrants enrolled in the Remain in Mexico program, discontinued by Biden on his Day One, are being tested, the CEO of the Yuma Regional Medical Center said, “A lot of people do cross the border every day, here, legally and otherwise. . . . If people are flying into the country, you need to have a COVID test that’s negative, [but] you can walk across the border and nobody [is required to have] a COVID test. So, you know, it definitely lends itself to the continued transmission of disease.”

A caller to a Yuma radio station stated that virtually all of the Covid cases currently in the local hospital were illegal aliens.

The mayor of Yuma, Douglas Nicholls, has declared that his border town is, Covid or no, unprepared to handle the influx, saying,

In about the last week . . . they’ve been releasing into the community, we’ve had about 170 people so far released into the community, but we don’t have a shelter system, we don’t have any sort of resources really set up to address the needs and help with the transition to their ultimate location.

In the face of the disastrous Biden policies, the hard-pressed Border Patrol is working hard, but to little avail, since those it arrests are often soon released into this country anyway. Over the weekend, 18 illegals were discovered hiding in a Yuma stash house, while along the entire border, at least 100,000 were arrested in February alone. That figure for the month of February, Biden’s first full month in office, is the highest since 2006. On a single day last week–March 3–agents arrested more than 4,500. However, unlike the years before Biden, those migrants requesting asylum stand little chance of ever being returned to their home countries and will ultimately spread out across the U.S.

The border is open, and for now and for the foreseeable future, all we can do is stand back and watch an endless parade of new arrivals.
