Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador is upset about the new law passed by Florida that discourages illegal aliens from residing there. According to Obrador, Americans “persecute migrants” (his term for illegal aliens) if we try to make them respect and obey our laws.
Meddling into our affairs with a crude racial appeal, Obrador called on Florida Hispanics to oppose Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis who supported the new law. Said Obrador, “Hopefully Hispanics in Florida will wake up and not give him one single vote, to not vote for those who persecute migrants, those who don’t respect migrants.”
The Mexican president may not be aware that DeSantis has a strong following among the state’s Hispanics. When he ran for reelection last year, he received 58 percent of the Hispanic vote.
