The situation on our border is so out of control that even former President Barack Obama has expressed concern about it. He stated in a recent interview, “We have borders. The idea that we can just have open borders is something that . . . as a practical matter, is unsustainable.”
Obama’s statement surprised many people because he never showed much interest in securing the border when he was president. One reason for his concern now may be fear that his party will face an electoral backlash if it appears completely indifferent to anarchy on the border.
