A new report released Sunday by the Center for Immigration Studies found that President Obama’s Dept. of Homeland Security caught then released 68,000 aliens who had previously been convicted of a crime. This number amounted to 35% of those aliens who should have been deported in 2013. The size of the problem is actually understated since Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) does not even classify traffic offences as serious as DUI or even vehicular manslaughter within their description of “criminal alien.”
The CIS report by Jessica Vaughan, also found that ICE only deported a small percentage of the deportable aliens they encountered, and she wrote: “Most of these aliens came to ICE’s attention after incarceration for a local arrest.” In other words, Obama’s ICE doesn’t find that many illegal aliens itself, and even when local police catch them and turn them over, ICE lets them go.
In response to this new study, coming just a week after a report by his office on Obama administration failure to enforce U.S. immigration law, U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) said: “The preponderance of the evidence demonstrates that immigration enforcement in America has collapsed.”
