The online version of the British tabloid Daily Mail is currently featuring a photographic essay titled “All aboard Joe’s border train: 18-wheeler overflows with migrants bound for the US.” The text is accompanied by some of the most shocking photos of migrant caravans you’re likely to see, such as a shot of an absurdly overloaded truck bearing migrants in the Mexican state of Veracruz:
This photo, from yesterday (November 18), was taken as the tractor-trailer began heading north, toward the U.S. border.
Also featured is the following shot taken Tuesday of a long line of migrants, also headed north, in Oaxaca state, bordering Veracruz.
Why do they come in such numbers? The Biden administration from its very beginning has made clear the welcome mat is out. And that welcome, to the ears of would-be asylees appears all the sweeter when the president himself speaks, not only of asylum, but of free money. A quote from a recent press conference:
And you lost your child, you lost your child, it’s gone, you deserve some kind of compensation, no matter what the circumstance. What that will be, I have no idea.
Others around Biden have an idea, however. And that idea–of $450,000 per–sounds awfully good to the oncoming hordes.
