Migrants Emerging from El Paso Sewers

The NY Post is reporting that illegal migrants are now bypassing border controls by coming into the U.S. through the El Paso, Texas, sewer system.

The city’s wastewater system empties into the Rio Grande at various places, and migrants are using these outlets to access the system. Once inside, they make their way through the tunnels to manholes, from which they emerge onto city streets. Residents have reported witnessing migrants climbing out onto streets and in some instances being met by smugglers who help them continue their flight into America. Other migrants have been seen attempting to steal nearby parked cars to make their escapes.

City officials have said they are aware of these activities and have asked the Border Patrol to increase their patrols in the areas where they are happening. The Post does not say whether the Patrol has responded.
