Mayorkas Finds Ways to Pack U.S.

DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has been busy since becoming the first Latino to hold that office back in February: busy finding all sorts of ways to attract and keep the foreign-born in this country.

Yesterday, for example, he announced that Hong Kong residents in this country who claim to be threatened in Hong Kong will not be removed for at least another year and a half. Those Hong Kongers are also declared eligible for work permits in the U.S.

In addition Mayorkas has:

  • Offered Venezuelan migrants work permits through the Temporary Protect Status (TPS) program if they meet a September 2022 deadline.
  • Offered TPS and work permits to 100,000 Haitians.
  • Arranged for relatives of illegals already here to be flown from Central America to join their families in the U.S.
  • Expanded the U Visa program, which provides work permits and green cards to people claiming to be victims of crime.

During Mayorkas’ tenure so far, roughly 700,000 migrants have crossed the Mexican border into the United States. As Neil Munro writes on Breitbart News, “The Cuban-born Mayorkas is an immigration zealot who grew up, graduated, and worked in California as a prosecutor during the 1990s.” That should tell us all we need to know.
