Joe Biden Says Indians Taking Over

We’ve noted numerous times here the growing power and wealth of Indian nationals and Indian-Americans in the U.S. Now Joe Biden, however awkwardly, is confirming those reports.

“Indian-of-descent Americans [sic] are taking over the country,” Biden yesterday told Swati Mohan, one of the leaders of NASA’s Mars 2020 mission and a native of Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.

As evidence, Biden pointed out Dr. Mohan, “my vice president [and] my speechwriter Vinay.” Kamala Devi Harris is the vice president, and Vinay Reddy is originally from Telangana, India.

Biden has a history of referring to the Indian presence in America in such a way as to make his handlers squirm. In 2006, for example, he noted the rise of Indian immigrants in his home state of Delaware.

“In Delaware, the largest growth in population is Indian-Americans moving from India,” he said. “You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking.”

During his call with Dr. Mohan, Biden continued, in his confused and halting manner, to sing the praises of “science” and, inevitably of course, of diversity.

You did it the most American way: You believed in science, you believed in hard work, and you believed there wasn’t a darn thing you couldn’t do if you put your minds together. One of the reasons why we’re such an incredible country is we’re such a diverse country. . . .

And so it goes in Bidenworld. For more, you can hear the Hindustan Times’ recording of Biden’s remarks.
