The House will vote on whether to file a friend-of-the-court brief with the Supreme Court to condemn President Obama’s executive decree of amnesty for illegal aliens. The Court is expected to rule on the decree sometime this spring or summer. Speaking in favor of the brief, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) stated, “This executive amnesty is a direct attack on the Congress’s Article I powers under the Constitution. The president is not permitted to write law. Only Congress is. The House will make that very clear.”
