In a remarkable development, the Biden Administration is actually trying to deport a group of foreigners. They are the family of Uwe and Hannelore Romeike who came to the United States fifteen years ago from their native Germany. They applied for asylum on grounds of religious persecution. They sought to homeschool their their children in order to teach them Christian values. Homeschooling is illegal in Germany, and the state removed the Romeike children from their home–which prompted the family to flee.
Initially, an immigration judge found that the Romeikes had a legitimate claim for asylum. Five years later, however, the Obama Administration overturned that ruling on appeal. Nevertheless, they were allowed to remain indefinitely. Now the Biden Administration wants to deport them. This case suggests that our government views law-abiding Christian Europeans as undesirable aliens.
