Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida has proposed a package of state legislation to help crack down on illegal immigration. A press release stated that he was taking this step because of “the increasing threats posed by illegal immigration as a result of the Biden administration’s failure to secure our nation’s borders.”
The package includes increased penalties for human smuggling, strengthening laws to bring about detention of illegal aliens, mandatory universal use of the E-Verify system to help employers determine if their hires are legal, and a ban on local governments issuing ID to illegal residents of the country.
