Citing data from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Center for Immigration Studies notes that deportations of illegal aliens from the interior of the U.S. have “dropped dramatically” under the Biden Administration. Specifically, they fell from 186,000 in fiscal year 2020 to 59,000 in fiscal year 2021.
The administration said the decline occurred because it wanted to focus on deporting the most dangerous criminal offenders. But the ICE data don’t support this claim. The removals of convicted felons dropped from 36,000 in fiscal year 2020 to 27,000 in fiscal year 2021.
