Will Davis of the Immigration Reform Law Institute has called on DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to resign, citing the scandal involving false accusations that Border Patrol agents “whipped” illegal aliens from Haiti who were entering the U.S.
Recently it came to light that a DHS official sent Mayorkas emails with quotes from the photographer who took photos of the alleged incident. He stated that no “whipping” had occurred.
Nevertheless, just hours later, Mayorkas held a press conference where he repeated the charge against the agents. He stated that “Our nation saw horrifying images that do not reflect who we are. We know that those images painfully conjured up the worst elements of our nation’s ongoing battle against systemic racism.”
Davis observed that “While Mayorkas claims to respect Border Patrol, these latest emails are yet another example of how he deliberately and consistently undermines them. . . . A man who believes that border security is inherently racist is now in charge of securing a border that is under siege. Mayorkas must be held accountable, or American sovereignty will become a thing of the past.”
