Immigrants Use More Welfare

A recent study by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) found that "The average household headed by an immigrant (legal or illegal) costs taxpayers $6,234 in federal welfare benefits, which is 41 percent higher than the $4,431 received by the average native household." A previous CIS study determined that "51 percent of immigrant-headed households use at least one welfare program, compared with 30 percent of native-headed households."

The cost to taxpayers of providing for illegal alien minors will soon double from what it was in fiscal year 2010, according to a study by the Center for Immigration Studies. At that time the cost per individual was $8,217. CIS projects that the total will come to $17,613 in fiscal year 2017.

Deportations Continue to Decline under Obama

A graph posed by Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) shows the continuing decline of deportations of illegal aliens from the interior. Between 2012 nd 2015, the number of these deportations declined by 62 percent. The administration has claimed that it has limited resources to enforce immigration law. But as Sessions notes, allocations for detention and removal rose significantly between 2012 and 2015.

ICE Releases Criminal Aliens

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency in 2015 released 19,723 criminal aliens it held in custody instead or deporting them. That number included 208 convicted of murder, 900 convicted of sex crimes, and 12,307 for drunk driving. The National Examiner noted that "Overall, those released into virtually every state and territory of America had a total of 64,197 convictions among them, for an average of 3.25 convictions each. . . ." The Obama Administration says that it cuts back on enforcement against most illegal aliens in order to concentrate on deporting criminals who pose a threat to public safety.

Refugee Children Get More Than American Children

A recent study reveals that the children of immigrants designated as refugees receive more in public benefits than native-born American children. Commenting on this disparity, a writer at americanthinker.com observed, "The concept of a civic community has been turned on its head in the United States. No longer do we take care of our own first and then do what we can to help the rest of the world. Along with the idea of actual borders, the idea that we owe our citizens the greatest protection is being tossed aside in practice, if not yet in theory."

Obama Said 2O Times He Couldn’t Do What He Did

The Townhall website counts twenty times when President Obama said that he didn't have the legal authority to decree legal status for illegal aliens--which he ended up doing. One example was his statement on July 1, 2010: “[T]here are those … who have argued passionately that we should . . . at least ignore the laws on the books... I believe such an indiscriminate approach would be both unwise and unfair. . . . This could lead to a surge in more illegal immigration.”
