Trump: We’ll Protect Agents
President Trump affirmed that attacks against federal immigration officers will not be tolerated. He stated, "[W]e've heard of shameless attacks on these courageous law enforcement officers. Extremist Democrat politicians have called for the complete elimination of ICE. . . . You know what would happen to parts of our country, it would be overrun with the worst criminal elements you have ever seen. . . . Left-wing activists are trying to block ICE officers from doing their jobs and publicly posting their home addresses. . . . We will not tolerate attacks on our law enforcement. . . . We will always stand proudly with our brave heroes of ICE [and] the Border Patrol.
Trump Backs Ryan Amnesty
In a move that has disappointed immigration control supporters, President Trump has endorsed the amnesty bill advanced by House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI). The Ryan bill, supported by Republican cheap labor business interests, would grant amnesty to 1.8 million illegal aliens with only modest steps to improve border security.

Most Blame Parents for Border Problem
A Rasmussen poll found that most Americans blame illegal alien parents for the problem of children coming across the Mexican border. Fifty-four percent of respondents expressed this view, compared with 35 percent who place the blame on the Trump Administration. Fifty-four percent also agreed with President Trump's statement that "The United States will not be a migrant camp. And it will not be a refugee-holding facility--it won't be."
Reform Bill Defeated in House
The House defeated a bill sponsored by House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) to place significant limits on chain migration. The vote was 193 to 231, with all Democrats and forty-one Republicans voting against it. One reason for its defeat was that the House Republican leadership, under Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), did little lobbying to promote it. Ryan is promoting another bill, one more congenial to the cheap labor interests of the Republican Party, which would leave chain migration much more intact.
SPLC May Face More Lawsuits
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is a radical left-wing group that regularly smears and maligns people who dissent from its Cultural Marxist dogmas. It stridently attacks immigration control organizations because mass immigration serves the Cultural Marxist agenda of destabilizing American society.
One of the SPLC's targets was Maajid Nawaz. The SPLC called him an anti-Muslim extremist and put his organization, the Quilliam Foundation, on its "hate" list. Nawaz responded by threatening a lawsuit. The SPLC backed down, apologized, and agreed to pay Nawaz more than $3 million in compensation.
As a consequence of this outcome, other organizations targeted by the SPLC are considering legal action against it .
Nielsen Corrects Fake News
A common media narrative is that President Trump initiated the policy of separating adult illegal aliens from the children they bring across the border. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen corrected this narrative at a press conference by noting that the current policy is based on a long-standing law, one followed by both the Bush and Obama Administrations.

More Non-Citizen Immigrants Are on Welfare
A study by the Migration Policy Institute found significantly higher welfare use among non-citizen legal immigrants than native-born citizens. Of 22 million legal non-citizens, 10.3 million (47 percent) use at least one welfare program. Of 270 million natives, 32 percent draw from at least one program of public assistance.
Amnesty Votes Scheduled
The House has scheduled two votes on amnesty bills. One is styled a "compromise" measure which may have some provisions for immigration control to offset the legalization of illegal aliens in the DACA category. The other bill being crafted by House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI). It is expected to conform to the goals of Republican cheap labor interests with few concessions to immigration control. Ryan once stated that he favored an "open door" immigration policy.
