Attorneys Generals Back Florida Law

The Florida legislature passed a ban on sanctuary cities, i.e., cities that refuse to cooperate with immigration law enforcement. Subsequently, a federal judge halted implementation of the ban. Florida is appealing that ruling. To aid the appeal, one third-of state attorneys general have filed an amicus brief in favor of Florida’s law.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R.) signed the brief. He stated that “Sanctuary cities have become havens for illegal aliens and all the social, economic, and criminal costs that illegal immigration entails. The Florida law simply required local law enforcement officials to comply with federal immigration law.”
