Abbott Endorses Trump

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Sunday endorsed the presidential candidacy of former President Donald Trump. In his announcement the governor stated, “Today, I am proud to endorse Donald J. Trump for president. Now more than ever, America needs a president who will secure the border and prioritize national security. President Trump is the clear choice to get the job done.”

The endorsement came as Trump and Abbott were meeting in Edinburg, Texas, where the governor was hosting a recognition for the Texas law enforcement officers who serve in Operation Lone Star–a coordinated effort by the state to deter illegal immigration.

Trump has declared that if he becomes president he will begin the largest deportation campaign in American history. Also, he has promised to reinstate the “remain-in-Mexico” policy to deter the fraudulent asylum claims that are facilitating the current wave of illegal migration.
