Media pundits across the Western world denounce the widely-held belief that Western elites are orchestrating mass immigration into their countries for sinister purposes, with no regard for what most of their citizens want. This, the pundits haughtily maintain, is an unfounded “conspiracy theory.”
A different perspective comes from Liz Truss, who briefly served as prime minister of Great Britain in 2022. In a recent interview, she offered some insights she gained while serving as prime minister and as a member of Parliament. She stated:
“What has happened is an orthodoxy has taken over British institutions in the same way as it has taken over European institutions. That orthodoxy believes in mass migration, multiculturalism, [and] toleration of Islamism. . . . There is a group of people who have essentially taken over our institutions with a particular world view and they don’t want to be challenged, which is why we’re seeing free speech being suppressed because they don’t want people to know just how badly wrong it is going. . . .
“[What] happened in Britain . . . also happened in the United States: The deep state, the unelected bureaucracy accumulated a lot of power. . . . The way to change it is to do what President Trump is doing in the United States. Win an election. What you have to do is first of all, restore justice and accountability to our justice system. At present, we have a two-tier system where if you tweet something, you could be put in jail, but if you’re [an immigrant] found abusing children, you might not be put in jail.”
Why do the pundits try to keep people from knowing “how badly wrong it is going?” The most likely explanation is that this is what the elites encourage them and pay them to do.
