As expected, President Trump is moving quickly to implement his steps to halt illegal immigration. In his inauguration speech today, he declared “I will declare a national emergency at our southern border. All illegal entry will immediately be halted, and we will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places in which they came.”
He will repeal Biden Administration programs which encouraged illegal immigration, most notably CBP One which essentially provided illegal aliens legal admission into the United States. Under this program, based on faulty interpretation of federal law, almost one million migrants settled in the U.S.
Trump will reinstate the “Remain in Mexico” policy which helped curb bogus asylum claims by migrants. He endorsed the end of birthright citizenship, the policy which deems that the children of illegal aliens born on U.S. soil are automatically American citizens. Under his proclamation of “national emergency,” he will send an unspecified number of troops to the border.
