A post-election poll, done by YouGov for CBS News, asked U.S. adults if they supported President-elect Trump’s plan “[to start] a national program to find and deport all immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally.” Fifty-seven percent said they approved of the plan, and 43 percent disapproved.
Other findings: Eighty-two percent said that “federal immigration and border agencies” should carry out the deportations. Sixty-four percent said that other federal law enforcement should assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Border Patrol in this task.
Sixty percent, however, said that the U.S. military should not be involved in immigration law enforcement. Some may not realize that National Guard troops have assisted the Border Patrol since 2006
