An article in The Hill reported on a poll commissioned by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. The article concluded from the poll that “The partisan chasm on immigration proposals is so wide that there is little, if any, common ground to be found between the right and left on policy solutions.”
Among the examples, 87 percent of Republicans support expansion of the border wall. Only 28 percent of Democrats share this view. Eighty-percent of Democrats favor a path to citizenship for illegal aliens. Only 33 percent of Republicans concur. Seventy-three percent of Democrats favor a higher level of legal immigration, while just 36 percent of Republicans hold that position.
