Every day, the Biden administration is admitting into America thousands of illegal aliens (aka “asylum seekers”), to the tune of millions per year, but the UN Grand Poobah of migration, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) thinks we’re not doing enough and that we should make their sneaking into our country easier and safer.
UNHCR Filippo Grandi said yesterday that it’s too dangerous for the world’s illegal migrants to get to their number 1 destination, the United States, and that it’s up to us to make it safer. No admonitions to the illegals to stay home, of course. It is a given among such people as Grandi that migrants from the third world have a universal right to live anywhere in America they like and that it would be xenophobic for us to deny them that opportunity.
But stretches like the Darién Gap in Panama (through which more than a half million have trudged so far this year) are too onerous for them and we need to remedy the problem. Grandi said:
There’s a lot that can be done, but it’s not being done and then we end up always having people at borders of rich countries and this becomes a big affair of state.
It’s those pesky old borders that are to blame. Someday, those “rich countries” will erase their borders altogether and then they won’t be rich anymore and maybe the hordes will go elsewhere. Until then, Grandi Poobah says, Straighten up and obey your global masters, America!
