Migrants to Remain . . . in Texas?

Joe Biden has been getting plenty of grief from fellow Democrats, such as New York City Mayor Eric Adams, on account of all the illegal migrants showing up in their cities and states without formal invitations. It’s not that the border-jumpers are not welcome, you see, it’s just that, well, this is maybe not the best time. . . .

Since there is an election coming up and Joe really needs all those irate fellow travelers of his on Election Day — assuming he’s still relatively awake then — he has hit upon an idea: Why not let the scofflaws in but keep them in Texas, away from Joe’s pals in the sanctuary cities and states up north?

It’s been pointed out that this is sort of like the abhorrent “Remain in Mexico” policy that Joe’s predecessor employed and which he thankfully abolished within seconds of his inauguration. But this is a compassionate plan, not an evil one. The ostensible “asylum seekers” would be free to travel at will around the state of Texas and sample all that great state has to provide the newcomer. They just couldn’t leave and go bother people in New York and places like that.

The embryonic plan was sketched out for the Los Angeles Times by some unnamed federal officials. According to them, the Texas-restricted migrants would be tracked through GPS monitoring devices, such as ankle bracelets, to prevent unauthorized “Texits,” if you will, while their applications for asylum are considered. If they fail to pass muster, they can be more easily rounded up and deported. (The Times did not reveal whether or not that last part was said with a straight face.)

At any rate, that would solve all Joe’s problems: it would make his Dem buddies happy, it would further his goal of continued packing of the U.S. with third-world excess, and it would annoy that Texas “madman” Gov. Abbott.
