Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) affirmed that our country is a “nation of Americans.” His statement counters the propaganda phrase commonly employed by immigration advocates that we are a “nation of immigrants.” Their use of that phase typically goes beyond the legitimate acknowledgement that we have a heritage of immigration. Instead, they use it suggest that the primary purpose of America is accepting immigrants, preferably with no limits at all.
Sen. Hawley maintains that the well-being of American citizens should be the first priority of our country. He observed that the elites who promote mass immigration are “globalists first and Americans second. . . . We need an immigration policy that works for the citizens of this country, not the global elite.”
