Earlier today we published a report on a poll that showed how sick voters in New York are of the 100,000-plus illegal migrants entering the state during the past couple of years.
Providing verification of the poll results is a Fox News article just published titled “Violence erupts among protesting groups outside New York City mayor’s home, as migrant crisis hits fever pitch.” It describes the scene yesterday outside the home of the NYC mayor as residents of Staten Island protested the opening of a new migrant shelter there. The planned shelter is at St. John Villa Academy, a former school in the Staten Island’s Arrochar neighborhood, owned by the city.
On Friday, a judge granted a temporary restraining order blocking the city from using that building, but that order was reversed on appeal hours later.
The protestors, who numbered in the hundreds, clashed with counter-protestors they called “Antifa.” Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa, who was present, said, “Antifa had been sending out emails and texts all weekend, saying that they would be there to smash the xenophobes, including me and Eric Adams.”
Although the groups fought violently, only five people were said to have been arrested, one of whom was Sliwa. Before being led away, Sliwa — who was a recent candidate for mayor himself — called on the mayor to honor a promise he had made earlier to house the newcomers at Grace Mansion, the mayor’s own residence. Fox News said Mayor Adams had since then “backed away” from that idea.
Another protest is scheduled for 6 p.m. today outside the St. John Villa Academy building.
